This scarf is very light on the neck area, it has great color combination. Thanks for the pattern which is just right in front.

To make both ends of the scarf at least appear the same, just repeat the pattern on the beginning straight edge. I chained 3, did one double crochet, then followed through with the shell pattern so there are three repeats across, then ended with 2 double crochets. That way the starting edge is no longer straight! I think this is easier than sewing two halves together, but it does mean additional weaving of yarn ends. Hope this helps.

does anyone know the answer to the question about how to make both ends of the scarf the same?

Any shell pattern item worked in one piece will be different on the two ends. If you want to make it the same, you have to crochet two halves separately. Work the pattern to half the length you want and fasten off. Then crochet the second half either by 1)joining to the beginning row (be sure you get the right sides/wrong sides the same for both halves) and working the pattern or 2)crocheting a second half separately and joining the two together with yarn needle.

Oops....new to this, but see my suggestion posted yesterday, Jan 2, 2012, as to one way that you can have both ends of the scarf look the same. Happy New Year!

Re: making both ends of the scarf the same, please see my comments of Jan 2nd and Jan 3rd, 2012. Add a row of the pattern to the straight edge of the scarf and then both ends of the scarf will be curved.

This is a pretty pattern, but I don't like how one edge is straight and the other is shell curved with the pattern. Is there no way to make both ends uniform?

I just finished this scarf and on the straight, beginning chain edge I did an edging starting with chain 3, double crochet, then follow the pattern across, resulting in 3 shells with the 2 double crochets in-between, ending with 2 double crochets. Voila -- curves on both ends of the scarf! (See my Jan 2, 2012 comment.)

I want to make sure I understood this correctly. "Repeat last row (from beginning of 2nd row?) and do I skeep one chain ? Thanks.

It means you continue to work Row 2 until the piece is complete. I don't see anything about skipping a chain. You work Row 2, turn, chain 3 to begin Row 3 which will be worked exactly the same was row 2

I am a beginning crocheter and may be missing something, but I don't understand your second sentence that reads "Ch 1. 3 dc) in next ch. Miss next 2 ch. 1 dc in each of next 2 ch. Rep from twice more. Turn." My problem is that I don't see a twice more in the instructions before this sentence. Please explain. Cartraig
