Funny Crochet Charms

These quirky and fun keyring charms can go almost anywhere, from backpacks and key-chains to zipper pulls and loot bags.  Your kids will love this crochet pattern from Lily Sugar n' Cream.



Materials:

• Lily® Sugar’n Cream® (70.9 g/2.5 oz; 109 m/120 yds)
   
• Wacky
  • Contrast A (00001 White) 1 ball
  • Contrast B (01742 Hot Blue) 1 ball
  • Contrast C (01699 Tangerine) 1 ball
     
• Stingy
  • Contrast A (00001 White) 1 ball
  • Contrast B (00002 Black) 1 ball
  • Contrast C (00010 Yellow) 1 ball
    
    
• Punky
  • Contrast A (00001 White) 1 ball
  • Contrast B (01712 Hot Green) 1 ball
  • Contrast C (01740 Hot Pink) 1 ball
     
• Note: With 1 ball each of A, B and C you can make approx 14 Charms.
• Size 3.75 mm (U.S. F or 5) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
• Stuffing.
• Small black beads for eyes.
• Black embroidery floss.
• Key-ring.
• 15 sc and 16 rows = 4" [10 cm] guage

Instructions:

Body and Head (all Versions make alike). With B, ch 2.

1. 1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join C with sl st to first sc.
    
2. 2nd rnd: With C, ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join B with sl st to first sc. 10 sc.
    
3. 3rd rnd: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join C with sl st to first sc.
    
4. 4th rnd: With C, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join B with sl st to first sc.
    
5. 5th and 6th rnds: As 3rd and 4th rnds.
    
6. Stuff Body.
    
7. 7th rnd: With B, ch 1. *Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook - Sc2tog made. Rep from * around. Join A with sl st to first sc. 5 sts.
    
8. Break B and C.
    
9. 8th rnd: With A, ch 1. 2 sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc. 10 sc.
    
10. 9th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around.
     
11. Join with sl st to first sc. 15 sc.
     
12. 10th and 11th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
     
13. 12th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in next sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 10 sts.
     
14. Stuff Head.
     
15. 13th rnd: Ch 1. *Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 5 sts. Fasten off. Draw yarn through rem sts and fasten securely.

Wacky

1. Hair: Wind C around 4 fingers 6 times. Remove from fingers and tie tightly in center. Sew to top of Head. Cut loops unevenly.
    
2. Sew 2 beads to Head for eyes. Embroider mouth with straight stitch as seen in picture.
    
3. Sew key-ring to top of Head.

Stingy

1. Wings (make 2). With A, ch 4. Join with sl st to form ring.
    
2. 1st rnd: Ch 1. (1 sc. 1 hdc. 5 dc. 1 hdc. 2 sc) in ring. Join with sl st to first sc.
    
3. Fasten off.
    
4. Sew Wings to back of Body as seen in picture.
    
5. Antennae: Cut length of A 4" [10 cm] long. Thread through top of Head and knot each end.
    
6. Sew 2 beads to Head for eyes. Embroider mouth with straight stitch as seen in picture. Sew key-ring to top of Head.

Punky

1. Mohawk: Cut 8 lengths of B 4" [10 cm] long. Draw each length of yarn through Head in a line from top of Head to base of Head at back. Knot through each length of yarn close to Head to form Mohawk. Trim evenly.
    
2. Sew 2 beads to Head for eyes. Embroider mouth with straight stitch as seen in picture. Sew key-ring to top of Head.
