Staghorn Slouch with Messy Bun Version

The Staghorn Slouch features two cable motifs, worked from the brim up - for your very own set of very chic antlers! With both pom and messy bun versions to choose from, it might just be your favorite hat this season! The Staghorn Slouch takes just one skein of yarn, and with just the two repeating cables, it works up in plenty of time for your next venture outdoors. With 3 sizes to choose from, you can make matching crochet hats for the family! Instructions for all three sizes are listed in the pattern as Child(Small, Large). Sizes are based on measurements provided by the Craft Yarn Council. For more information, see: http://www.mooglyblog.com/staghorn-slouch/

I love the look of this Staghorn Slouch but I had a hard time getting the fpdc getting to line up right. I read all of her tips and it didn't help. I made and ripped this one out twice. Not many patterns get me in a tizzy but this one sure did! I've been crocheting for many years and I will not give up on this one. I will try again only because I like the look of this hat. Has anyone made this and had it work out? Any tips would be great for rows 8 and above. Thank you again for sharing this free crochet pattern.
