Stripes and Spikes Potholder
"The Spikes and Stripes Potholder is an adorable accessory for your kitchen that is also functional. The double thickness keeps the heat away from your hands while still looking decorative. This pattern uses single crochet, half double crochet and a double crochet spike stitch. There is a step-by-step photo tutorial included of the spike stitch. The holder is crocheted around a 1" plastic ring that is found at the base of the cap on a bottle of water. You have the option to skip the ring and simply chain a hanger if you wish."

These are really super. Not only pretty to look at but functional and very easy to make. And I can never have enough of them. If you want to make them thicker just use an old stained one. Instead of tossing it out, sandwich it between two layers of your new one.

Well, let me say, I do learn something new every now and then. Coming to this website, there always seems to be bits of knowledge shared- not only from the original crafter via their blog, but from other crafters who post their personal comments and experiences. I have learned do not use acrylic yarn for trivets and pot holders. A wise tip. Another neat thing- didn't think of using a milk gallon jug plastic ring (from the cap) as the base for a hanger! COOL IDEA
