Colorful Paper Mobiles
Decorate for your next party with these colorful paper mobiles. Also called paper garlands, these fun hanging mobiles can be made in a variety of colors, depending on what occasion you are crafting for.
Materials:
- long thin strips of cardstock in your color scheme (can be various sizes, but most should be either 12" or 11" long and between 1" and 2" wide)
- sewing machine
- thread
Instructions:
- Gather long thin strips of cardstock. Use your sewing machine's slowest speed (this will give you time to collect and feed each strip of paper). Pull out a long 'tail' of thread.
- Start feeding your strips of paper through your sewing machine one at a time. Make sure you're sewing close to, but not exactly at, the center of the strip of paper. Switching up the center line is what gives the garland movement. Let the needle stitch a few times between each strip of paper.
- Once you've fed all of your paper strips through the sewing machine (and pulled out another 'tail' of thread), you're finished.

These are very easy to make and my kids would enjoy crafting these in different holiday colors to put around the house. Looking forward to sharing it with them.

I am a teacher for a 3rd grade class. This would work great when we are studying different countries. Each group could do one in their countries flag colors, then attach information about that country on the strips, we could then hang them in the hall for others to learn from too. Thanks so much for the great idea.
