Materials List

  • Plastic Bag
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Lay out your plastic bag flat. Cut off the handles and the bottom so you wind up with an even tube.

  2. Fold the tube in half, bringing the sides of the bag towards each other. Repeat two more times until you have a slender tube.

  3. Arrange your tube in front of you so the folded edge is facing you. Cut off the jagged edges so you have a perfectly neat tube ready to turn into plarn!

  4. Cut your bag into little "sushi rolls" no thinner than one inch wide. You can make the cuts thicker if you want, but don't go thinner than an inch because you don't want your plarn to break while you're crocheting with it later.

  5. Undo your little sushi rolls. You'll have a full ring of plastic!

  6. To make your plarn, you'll need to connect all these loops into a long strand that will eventually become your skein. To connect the loops, insert one ring of plastic into the other ring, and draw the end through the first ring. Tighten it up so there's a little knot.
