Personalized Halloween Candy Bag

Turn a plain white canvas tote into a personalized trick or treat bag using Simply Spray. This quick and easy craft project from Alyice Edrich of The Dabbling Mum will bring a smile to your little goblin's face on Halloween.

Personalized Trick or Treat Bags

Materials:

  • Simply Spray ® paint (color of choice), 1 can
  • DecoArt ® Glow-in-the-dark Dimensional Writer paint, 1 bottle
  • White canvas tote bag
  • Reynolds ® Freezer Paper
  • 2 wooden pumpkin templates
  • Pen or pencil
  • Pair of Scissors
  • Iron

Instructions:

  1. Cover your work area with clear plastic trash bags (or newspaper) to avoid excess spray from ruining your furniture or floors.

  2. Place your freshly washed and dried canvas tote on top of the clear trash bags (or newspaper).

  3. Turn iron on medium heat and let warm.

  4. Place the wooden pumpkins on top of a piece of freezer paper and trace.

  5. Cut out the pumpkin shapes.

  6. Place the pumpkins shapes, shiny side down, on top of the canvas and gently iron. (Turn off iron.)

  7. Spray a light coat of Simply Spray ® over the canvas. Don't worry about covering the pumpkin template. Let dry. (If the color is too light, or you'd like to add another color, wait until the first spray dries before adding another coat. This will prevent bleeding.)

  8. Remove the freezer paper by gently lifting one corner and peeling off the canvas.

  9. Shake puff paint upside down, and squeeze. As you squeeze the paint, trace the pumpkin shapes. Add lines and let dry.

Designer Tip: Make sure you start your spray on a scrap piece of material (as suggested per packaging instructions), then continue holding down the trigger as you move the spray over the tote. Also, if you hold a napkin under the nozzle while spraying, you'll avoid drips of paint from appearing on your tote.
