Funny Halloween Lunchbox

Dress your child's lunchbox up this Halloween. This silly faced pumpkin is sure to put a smile on their face. Using metal paint and acrylics you can have this cute lunchbox ready in ten easy steps.

Materials:

Product Note
No-Prep Metal Paint is a non-toxic paint that has good adhesion to most metal surfaces, including galvanized metal, tin, brass and wrought iron,without using a coat of primer. It is available in 35 colors and a Clear Medium. All 35 colors are intermixable.

Transferring Patterns
Lay tracing paper over pattern and draw the basic lines. Lay this tracing on the surface to be painted. Slip graphite paper between the tracing and the surface and secure. Trace with a pencil or stylus to transfer the design. Do not trace details until after basecoating has dried.

Preparation
Clean lunch box with 1:1 mix of vinegar and water; dry.

Steps:

1. Using a 1" flat brush and Bright Orange, paint front and back of box.
    
2. Paint small bands on sides with Coal Black, using #10 flat brush. Middle band is Fresh Lavender and handle is Espresso Bean.
    
3. Using #12 flat brush and Bright Lime Green, paint stripes on black side bands. Add a line of Bright Yellow on either side of green stripes.
    
4. Shade* lines on pumpkin faces with 1:1 mix of Sedona Clay and Clear Medium, using #12 flat brush. Highlight faces with 1:1 mix of Bright Yellow and Clear Medium.
    
5. Trace and transfer face patterns. Paint eyes, nose and mouth of smiling face with Coal Black and Bright Yellow.
    
6. On the other face, use #10 brush to paint eyes Bright White, irises Bright Lime Green and pupils Coal Black with Bright White highlight.
    
7. Load brush with Clear Medium, then pick up Sedona Clay on one corner of the brush; blend on palette and shade around nose, eyes and tongue.
    
8. Paint tongue Light Apricot; shade tongue, top of nose and cheeks with Deep Fuchsia and Clear Medium, loading brush the same as in Step 7.
    
9. Outline faces with Coal Black, using 5/0 liner.
    
10. Paint randomly spaced black circles on purple band for spiders. Use liner to paint legs. Add Bright Yellow eyes, using handle end of brush.

Techniques
Shading: Use the floating method, dipping the brush into water or Brush `n Blend Extender. Lightly press on a paper towel until sheen leaves the bristles. Dip one corner of brush into paint; stroke back and forth on palette, blending until the color spreads evenly halfway across the width of the brush.
