Life in the Garden Spring Card
Great for birthdays, Easter, or Mother's Day, this Life in the Garden Spring Card is a lovely way to send anyone a bright spring greeting. The beautiful floral flourish is hand-painted onto wax paper using acrylic paints, then accented with fine tip pens. Materials:
- Light blue marbled cardstock sized 8.2” x 5.6”
- Pink cardstock with white polka dots sized 3.6” x 5.4”
- Piece of waxed paper, the kind that one usually uses to wrap sandwiches, or to line a baking tin with ~ cut this piece of waxed paper to 3.5” x 5.3”
- Acrylics paint in seven colors: sweet memories (pink); flesh; plum; tweety (bright yellow); lime; electric (blue) and white
- Dark pink paper craft string
- Thin paintbrush
- Artline 210 Fineliner Pen
- Craft glue
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
- 5” egg-shaped cookie cutter
Instructions:

Score the 8.2” x 5.6” light blue marbled cardstock length-wise to create a card sized 5.6” x 4.1”.

Lightly draw an egg-shape onto the waxed paper.

Stretch the waxed paper over a chopping board to make it easier to apply the paint evenly. Use the sweet memories paint to draw five flowers onto the waxed paper.

Use the flesh paint to add pollen to the flowers.

Add lavender flowers with the electric paint.

Add small yellow flowers with the tweety paint.

Use the lime paint to add leaves and stalks to the design.

Use the plum paint to add some detail to the flowers and the design.

Finish the design by adding some shadows with the Artline 210 Fineliner Pen, and some light with the white paint.

With the fold at the left, centre and glue the waxed paper to the front of the card.

Cut an egg-shape in the centre of the pink cardstock with the white polka dots and glue this to the front of the card.
- Use the paper craft string to make a frame around the inside of the egg-shape.
