    Pink Daisy Mug Cozy

    Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

    Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook

    Materials:

    For Flower

    • Size 5 mm (H) crochet hook
    • Pink Chunky (12 ply)
    • 1 yarn needle
    • 1 stitch marker

    For Mug Cozy

    • Crochet Hook - size 5 mm (H)
    • Cream Double Knit (8ply)
    • 1 yarn needle
    • 1 x 20mm Button
    • 1 x 25mm Button  (optional)

     

    Abbreviations:

    • HK - hook
    • CH - chain
    • SS – Slip Stitch
    • ST – Stitch
    • SC – Single crochet
    • HDC – half double crochet
    • DC – Double crochet
    • TR – Treble crochet
    • HDC INC – 2 hdc in the same stitch

     

    Instructions:

    Flower

    1. Ch 5, join with a ss
    2. Round 1) Ch 1, (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc ,1 tr, 1 dc 1 hdc, 1 sc) in same st, *in nxt st (1sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) * x 4, ss to ch1 to join and finish

    Mug Cozy
    Ch 2 counts as a hdc
    Ss is joined to the top of the Ch 2
    If you are making a cozy for a specific mug check sizing as you go You might not need to do as many rounds 1-6 (if you want to make the bottom smaller) & you might not need as many rounds up for the height 9 – 14.

    1. Ch 2
       
    2. Round 1) 8 hdc in 2nd ch from hk, ss to join (8)
       
    3. Round 2) Ch 2, 1 hdc in same st, 7 hdc inc, ss to join to top of the ch 2 (16)
       
    4. Round 3) Ch 2, 2 hdc in nxt st, *1 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 7, ss to join (24)
       
    5. Round 4) Ch 2, 1 hdc in nxt st, 1 hdc inc, *2 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 7, ss to join (32)
       
    6. Round 5) Ch 2, 1 hdc in nxt st, 1 hdc, 1 hdc inc, *3 hdc, 1 hdc inc* x 7, ss to join (40)
       
    7. Round 6) Ch 2, 39 hdc, ss to join  – in back loop only (40)
       
    8. Round 7) Ch 2, 39 hdc, ss to join (40)
       
    9. Round 8) Ch 2, 39 hdc, ch 2, turn (40)
       
    10. Round 9 – 14) 39 hdc, ch 2, turn (40)
       
    11. Round 15) Ch 2, 39 hdc, ch 7, ss back at the start of the chain to create a loop, finish
       
    12. Attach the 20mm button at the top of the gap so that the loop can fasten around the top of the mug handle.
       
    13. If you would like to add appliques at different times of the year fasten the 25mm button to the centre of the cozy.
