Brioche Simplified
Learn brioche knitting! Sponsored by the Hands on Knitting Center, this free one-hour class covers the basics of single and two color flat brioche.
In this class Molly Conroy-Ungerecht will teach you how to make two small projects using the brioche technique: makeup removers/small face cloths.
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate
Skills Used: Knit, purl, slipped stitches, knit two together and purl two together.
Materials:
-Two skeins of worsted weight cotton yarn – one a light color and one dark. The dark color should not be so dark that you cannot see your stitches easily.
-Two sets of US 4 circular needle or double pointed needle
-Darning needle
Homework:
1:
With light color yarn, cast on 18 stitches and work as follows:
Row 1: K1, (k1, p1) rep to last st, sl1wyif.
Row 2: K1, (k1, p1) rep to last st, sl1wyif.
Do not cut yarn. Put aside for class.
2.
With the dark color yarn, cast on 19 stitches and work as follows:
Row 1: K1, (k1, p1) rep to last 2 sts, k1, sl1wyif.
Row 2: K1, (p1, k1) rep to last 2 sts, p1, rep to last st, sl1wyif.
Do not cut yarn. Put aside for class.
