Two Tone Pillow
Knit a two-tone pillow with a bold zig-zag design with this pillow knitting pattern. On the other side, the pillow is a single color for a different look. Use colors to match your home decor.
Materials:
- Yarn: Bernat® Berella ‘4’ (100 g / 3.5 oz)
Contrast A (08929 Geranium) 1 ball
Contrast B (01141 Rich Periwinkle Blue) 1 ball
Contrast C (08893 Dark Oxford Heather) 1 ball
Contrast D (08994 Black) 1 ball
- Knitting Needles: Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. 16 ins [40.5 cm] square pillow form.
Gauge: 16 sts and 32 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in garter st.
Measurement: Approx 16 ins [40.5 cm] square.
Instructions:
Note: When working with more than one color within a row, use separate balls for each area of color. To change colors, twist the two colors around each other where they meet, on WS, to avoid a hole.
FRONT
With A cast on 64 sts.
1st to 12th rows: Work in garter st (knit every row).
13th row: With B, K8. With A, K56.
14th row: With A, K56. With B, K8.
15th to 24th rows: As 13th and 14th rows 5 times more.
25th row: With B, K16. With A, K48.
26th row: With A, K48. With B, K16.
27th to 36th rows: As 25th and 26th rows 5 times more.
37th row: With B, K24. With A, K40.
38th row: With A, K40. With B, K24.
39th to 48th rows: As 37th and 38th rows 5 times more.
49th row: With B, K32. With A, K32.
50th row: With A, K32. With B, K34.
51st to 60th rows: As 49th and 50th rows 5 times more.
61st row: With B, K40. With A, K24.
62nd row: With A, K24. With B, K40.
63rd to 72nd rows: As 61st and 62nd rows 5 times more.
73rd row: With B, K48. With A, K16.
74th row: With A, K16. With B, K48.
75th to 84th rows: As 73rd and 74th rows 5 times more.
85th row: With B, K56. With A, K8.
86th row: With A, K8. With B, K56.
87th to 96th rows: As 85th and 86th rows 5 times more.
97th to 108th rows: With B, knit. Cast off.
BACK
Work as given for Front substituting C for A and D for B.
Sew 3 sides of Pillow tog. Insert pillow form. Sew rem side closed.
