Instructions:

The best way to make a mixed media project is to journal a story from your heart. There is no right way or wrong way to do this, it’s all about enjoying the process.
-
For my pages, I started by gluing down some thin strips of patterned papers onto my pages. The ProCision Rotary Bypass Trimmer cuts thin strips of patterned paper very nicely. I then added a white tag and some die cut vellum strips. I just wanted to add some different colors and textures to form the base of my page.
-
Next, I brought in pink and aqua colors by using watercolors. I used a mask and spray just on the bottom left corner to form a flower pattern. I then layered some cream paint on top of everything. For the cream paint, I used a very dry brush, added just a little paint to the tip of the brush and painted on the page. This will make sure that the colors beneath don’t turn murky.
-
For the next layers, I used some of the new Maya Road fabric tapes. These tapes glue down nicely and the white ones can be painted over easily. I frilled them up a bit before I adhered them down. I also added a big wide pink ribbon, a butterfly and some more pops of colors.
-
Now here comes the fun part: the journaling. Writing down the story is the best part of this project. Use your handwriting or type your journaling - either way works! Add some doodling with the same pen to tie in the colors.
-
I finished off the page by adding some ribbons, stickers and scattered sequins.
