Sparkly Egg Pendant
Looking for fun jewelry making ideas? Create a Sparkly Egg Pendant from Candace Jedrowicz in time for Easter! Use polymer clay to shape your beads and create perfect Easter eggs. Rhinestones and metal leaf add a dimension of fun to this pretty holiday project.
Materials:
- Aleene’s Turbo Tacky Glue
- Polymer clay – I used scrap clay because it gets covered
- Metal leaf
- Metal leaf adhesive and sealer
- 20 gauge wire
- Jewelry tools
- Tweezers
- Needle tool or toothpick
- Gems (rhinestones)
- Beads
Instructions:
- Shape a small ball of clay into an egg. Make a bead hole with needle tool.
- Find two skewers the same size as your gems. Leaving the bead on the needle tool, press the flat ends of the skewers on opposite sides at the same time.
- Turn the bead and repeat as many times as you like. You may need to gently reshape the clay. Do that while it’s still on the needle tool. Bake the clay according to the package directions.
- Cut a 7″ piece of wire. Starting at 2″ from one end wrap the wire around the handle of the needle tool or anything about 1/4″ across.Crimp the Slide both ends of the wire through the bead. Wrap a small loop in the other end of the wire. Wrap the tail around just above the loop and trim the excess.Coat the bead with metal leaf adhesive according to the bottle directions. Allow to dry.
- The adhesive will still be sticky. Pick up a sheet of the metal leaf and apply to the bead. Keep applying until the whole bead is covered.
- Run your fingernail under the wire on both ends to remove excess metal leaf. Coat the bead with metal leaf sealer according to the package directions. Allow to dry.
- Pick up gems with tweezers and touch the gem bottoms to the Turbo Tacky Glue to pick up a tiny dot. Apply gems to the bead.Allow to dry. Add a small charm to the bottom loop.
