The kit provides instructions for crocheting a classic granny square, plus eight more granny square patterns. The F/5 crochet hook works perfectly with the four small skeins of yarn to make the Amulet Bag Necklace. If you're not a fan of the necklace pattern then you can easily just work up some granny squares or practice your crocheting skills.

Within the first five pages of the book you'll see instructions on how to get started. There are tutorials on the slip knot, the chain ring, and the adjustable loop. With written instructions and colorful photos to accompany them, these tutorials are super easy to follow. There's even an abbreviation guide to help you through the instructions if you're a beginner, or to help you brush up on your skills if it's been a while.

The Classic Granny Square on page 6 really caught my eye. With its wonderful use of color coordination and step by step instructions, it was easy to follow along and work it up. This will certainly make a lovely bag necklace or simply the start to your next granny afghan.
