That's an awesome idea! Why didn't I think of that? I need kitchen hand towels, too, and have put off buying them because I'm a cheapskate. Unfortunately, I don't have an old bedspread on hand, but maybe if I dig through my stash of odds and ends I can find something suitable. Thank you for the idea!

This is such a great and practical project! I have an old chenille bedspread that this project would be perfect for! I never thought of doing this! I could see adding some color coordinating cross grain ribbon on the edges to keep it from further wear and fraying! Nice as a decorative guest towel that would get less rough use. Such a nice idea! Thanks for sharing!
