I love this recycling idea for my teenage girls! I'm an organization nut but they like chaos, so when you recycle a box that costs nothing and decorate it with other assorted "remnants and Junk" to make it creatively personal. It's creative and expressive, and I get the mess cleaned up! FABULOUS!

For jorgy I have been making these for years because I had so many keeper magazines that did not fit store bought holders Any upright box will work depending on what you need to store Ritz and Cheez-it boxes are perfect for keeping those small pamphlet size knit and crochet pattern booklets and the free pattern leaflets from the craft store I crumple up old brown bags tear into irregular pieces and Mod-Podge them to the box - inside and out When completely dry I sponge paint with acrylic craft paints using or shades of the same color My favorite colors are red and green but have also done some that looked like tortoise shell with black brown and gold paints They will look alot like leather When completely dry brush with a final coat of Modge-Pod to seal This produces a very stiff and sturdy storage box better than any…Read More magazine storage file you can buy PLUS the bottom won't fall out

@dolphinmom537 8605418, Mod Podge is a water-based all-in-one glue, sealer, and finish. It comes in a variety of different specialty finishes in addition to classic matte and glossy. Our sister site www.cutratecrafts.com sells it; here is the link: http://www.cutratecrafts.com/search.php?task=run_search&search_term=mod+podge You can also pick it up at your local craft store such as Michael's and Hobby Lobby. --Editor of FaveCrafts

Tide or other detergent boxes work well too. They are a bit more sturdy than cereal boxes and I use contact paper with them. They last a long time. The boxes also come in different sizes.

my son gets alot of packages in the mail. the rectangle ones. I can cut them so I get 2,they are a tad bit wider than magazines, and I am going to cover anyway,Sunday comics and ads make nice covers too so I can cut them down to fit.

Have made many of these great holders for all my craft and sewing magazines. I made labels on my computer with the name, month and year of the magazines in each holder - makes it easier to find what I am looking for. I also keep one in the kitchen to store all those loose recipes cut from magazines or picked up at the grocery store. My grandson has one to store his colouring books and school work books.
