Materials List
- 2 1/2" Wired Ribbon. Note: regular ribbon will also work, but wired ribbon will definitely help the loops stay in place and be sculpted easier than ribbon without.
- Piece of wire or pipe cleaner
Instructions for Making Bows with Wired Ribbon
-
Determine what diameter you want your bow to be. The bow featured in this tutorial is about six inches wide, but feel free to make it even bigger! Make a foundation loop that is the diameter of your desired bow.
-
Once you have this foundation loop, wrap the ribbon around the loop at least six times. The more layers you add to this loop you've made, the puffier your bow will be. Note: make sure your two ribbon ends are at the opposite ends of the loop.
-
Take your pipe cleaner or wire piece and wrap VERY TIGHTLY around the center of the loops.
-
Optional: tie a length of ribbon around the wire or pipe cleaner to conceal it in the bow.
-
Begin fluffing the individual loops by pulling them outward starting with most inside loop. As you fluff, also twist! This will give you the best dimension.
-
Do this with all of the loops until your bow is fluffy like a pom pom!
