Watercolor Hearts Gift Tag
When it comes to gifts, the tag should be just as important as the present itself. Create a Watercolor Hearts Gift Tag from Heidi Borchers and show how much you care. This year, create handmade gift tags for everyone you love.
Materials:
- Tulip Beads in a Bottle Paint (Gold)
- Tape (clear)
- Watercolor paper
- Shipping tag (for pattern)
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Paper punch
- Water and small watercolor brush
- Acrylic paint (or watercolor paint)
Instructions:
- To create a small application tip on the tube, cut strip of tape 1/4″ by approximately 1-1/4″. Position at an angle on tip of tube.
- Roll paint tube while holding tape until tape rolls back on itself.
- You should now have a small tape tip on the paint tube.
- Trace tag pattern onto watercolor paper and punch hole.
- Trace square pattern onto watercolor tag by lightly marking the corners. Repeat for heart pattern. Note that you do not need to mark the entire pattern, you only need lightly penciled marks.
- Using pencil marks as guide, draw wiggly line of paint onto tag.
- Continue drawing to create heart in square.
- Repeat to create two designs. Let paint dry completely.
- Working sections at a time, apply clear water to watercolor paper.
- To apply color, mix a small amount of acrylic paint with water. Begin applying color by gently applying tip of brush over areas covered by water. Start with a small amount of color and add more paint in layers.
- Apply water to heart area and apply paint.
- Repeat to paint both designs. Let dry completely.
