Materials:
- On each heart, you need to drill a hole at the top and the bottom of the heart. Use the pencil to lightly mark where the holes must be drilled before drilling them.
- Sand down the hearts and wipe off any dust with the old cloth before proceeding with the next step.
- Paint the top and sides of the hearts with the white paint and allow to dry thoroughly.
- Give each heart an uneven wash with the pink paint and allow to dry.
- Spray the hearts with the varnish and allow to dry thoroughly.
- Hot glue the turtle doves, mirror heart, mirror word and rose to the different hearts.
- Add a drop of Super Glue to each flat-sided rhinestone sticker. Glue nine hearts each in random places on two of the hearts.
To put the hearts and beads together:
- Thread the wax cord through the heart-shaped bead and make a knot to secure the cord. Add a drop of Super Glue to the knot to prevent it from untying.
- Use the needle to help get the cord through the holes in the hearts. Start with the first heart (which will hang at the bottom) and push the cord through the bottom hole from the front of the heart to the back.
- At the top hole, insert the cord through the hole from the back to the front. Take the cord to the back of the heart again, and insert through the hole again from the back towards the front.
- Thread the cord through one of the multi-faceted beads. Take the cord back to the bottom of the bead and thread it through the bead again to secure the bead.
- Follow steps b and c with the second heart.
- Follow step d with the second multi-faceted bead.
- Follow steps b and c with the third heart.
- Make a loop to hang the hearts from and secure the loop with a knot. Again, add a drop of Super Glue to the knot.
- Cut off any remaining cord at the top and bottom.

This really is very pretty, but I doubt many people will want to spend so much on supplies to make something to use for one day. I have some alternate suggestions, if I may. Use cardboard covered with felt instead of buying wood. Use glitter to write words instead of buying them. Use buttons shaped like flowers and hearts. No drilling, no sanding and no expensive wood . Just use your imagination and go with it.
