Materials:

  • Art canvas
  • Acrylic paint (to complement scrapbook paper)
  • Paint brush
  • Stampendous Cling Jumbo Stamp - Songbird
  • Stampendous Cling Jumbo Stamp - Daisy with template
  • Frantage Encrusted Jewel Purple Kit
  • Small brush (to arrange embossing powder in flower center)
  • Pliers (or other tool to hold flower while heating embossing powder)
  • Scrapbook paper (or scrapbook cardstock) to cover canvas
  • Scrapbook cardstock - to match scrapbook paper (for raised flower)
  • Stamping ink (black or color of your choice)
  • Chalk ink (yellow or color of your choice)
  • Heat gun
  • Aleene's Tacky Glue
  • Sandpaper
  • 3D adhesive pop dots
  • Ribbon (to hang canvas)

Instructions:

  1. Measure and cut scrapbook paper to fit front of canvas.

  2. Paint canvas. Set aside to dry.

  3. Stamp designs with black ink.

  4. Using template from Jumbo Daisy, stencil additional design elements on paper using chalk ink.

  5. Stamp additional flower design onto cardstock paper. Cut flower out along outside stamp line.

  6. Sprinkle circle of  purple embossing powder in center of flower. Use brush to move around to desired pattern.

  7. Hold flower with pliers in one hand while holding the embossing heat tool in other. Apply heat from underneath the flower and watch embossing powder melt. (This should only take a minute or so for the powder to melt.) Remember, since you are not using embossing ink to hold the powder in place, you have to apply the heat from underneath in order for it to melt and not blow off the surface.

  8. Scatter sprinkle some embossing powder onto the stamped background paper. Heat from underneath.

  9. Spread Aleene's Tacky Glue in an even coat on the back of decorted paper. Glue onto front of canvas. Let glue dry completely. Sand along edges of paper to give a vintage effect to paper edges.

  10. Use adhesive pop dots to glue second flower onto canvas. You can align the stamped pattern or rotate the flower for a more dimensional effect.

  11. Glue ribbon around outside edge of canvas. Tie into bow at top to create hanger.

I have made similar decor pieces, but since I did not have stamps, I cut out photos or art from magazines and used decoupage to cover them and attach. This works well and gives a nice look as well and for less money than buying the stamps. You can add silk flowers or buttons for a more three dimensional look. Super idea, love it!

This is very pretty and if you have all the supplies needed you are ok. But I really can't afford to buy all the items on the list. I go buy three words when looking for a project. Inexpensive , easy and cute. This has two of them and if I can find the materials on sale I will certainly give it a try.
