Twinkle DIY Galaxy Painting on Canvas

- Derwent Academy Artist Brush Set
- Derwent Academy Soft Pastels
- Derwent Academy Acrylic Paints
- Sizzix® Die-cut Machine/Big Shot
- Grafix® Gold Foil Cardstock
- Pressed Petals Cardstock Stack® - Patterned Paper Pre-cut Shapes
- Spectrum Noir™ Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock
- Sheena By Sheena Douglass Twinkle Die
- Heat Gun
- Scissors
Instructions:

Apply Derwent purple acrylic paint liberally onto the entire canvas.

Lightly blend a small amount of black and ultramarine acrylic paint randomly throughout the canvas.

Use a heat gun to speed up drying time.

Splatter Derwent white paint over the painted canvas and set aside to dry.

Draw and cut out clouds from white cardstock.

Using the Derwent light blue soft pastel, outline the entire perimeter of the cloud with soft pastel then blend out color with your finger.

Punch out stars in assorted sizes. Outline with orange soft pastel and blend out with your finger.

Die cut the word Twinkle from the gold and white cardstock. Cut two of each color and run through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker.

Run the clouds through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker.

Run the stars through the Xyron Create-A-Sticker.

Apply the clouds and stars to the canvas.

Layer one gold twinkle over one white twinkle to give it a shadowed layered effect. Repeat with remaining twinkles.

Apply layered twinkles onto the canvas.

Lastly, trace over the tops of the clouds with a pink soft pastel and blend out with your finger.

How cool is this project. It's probably not the thriftiest because you need the make a sticker machine which probably doesn't come cheap but it's so intricate and well thought out. I love how neat and professional it looks even for a kid's room. You can make this with your kids for your newborn as a bonding experience or for fun. I love it. Thanks.

I want to try this but do each of my grandchildrens astrological star signs and star pattern on it though. Good idea, yes or oh No!?

I would use stickers for all sorts of things from planter pots to birdhouses. They would look great on them or plant markers.
