Strawberry Liqueur Wedding Favor
This Strawberry Liqueur Wedding Favor makes a great gift for a wedding or housewarming party. Use a glass bottle with a cork and decorate the bottle with decoupage techniques, bud silk stationery lace sticker and alphabet gem stickers. Fill the bottle with strawberry liqueur and you have a gift that both men and women are sure to enjoy. You could also leave the bottle empty and use it as a decorative vase for your living room or kitchen.
Materials:
- Printed copy of the provided artwork
- One glass bottle with a cork
- Paper Seal
- Mod Podge
- Cerise pink tissue paper
- Acrylic paint in the following two colors: black and mother of pearl rose
- Self-adhesive pink alphabet gem stickers
- Black self-adhesive bud silk stationery lace sticker
- 10/32” paint brush
- Sponge ~ use one that was inside a medicine bottle
- Scissors
- Masking tape
- Quick-drying matt spray varnish
- Strawberry liqueur
- Wine bottle wax sealer (optional)
Instructions:
-
Wash the bottle in warm soapy water and then leave it upside down overnight to dry thoroughly.
-
Cut small strips from the cerise pink tissue paper.
-
Paint a substantial amount of Mod Podge to the bottle.
-
Put the first strip of tissue paper in position on the bottle. Paint Mod Podge over the strip of tissue paper, so that it will stick to the bottle. As the tissue paper can stretch or tear easily, it is best to start painting from the middle of the strip towards the sides, and working in small triangles.
-
Use the hairdryer to dry the strip of tissue paper.
-
Repeat steps 4-5 with the other strips of tissue paper, until the bottle has been covered with the cerise pink tissue paper. Note: Do not cover the bottom of the bottle. Only cover the bottle up to the neck ~ do not cover the bottle above the collar.
-
Paint a thin layer of Paper Seal over the printout of the artwork. The Paper Seal will protect the ink from running and will make it easier to cut out the printout without tearing it.
-
Cut out the printout and decide how it will be arranged on the bottle.
-
Paint a substantial amount of Mod Podge to the back of the printout. Turn the printout around and put it in position on the bottle, but do not press it down.
-
With the brush, spread Mod Podge to the front of the printout, lightly applying pressure so that it will stick to the bottle.
-
Working from the middle of the printout, and from inside towards the outside, rub out all the air bubbles and excess Mod Podge from the back of the printout. Use an old cloth to clear any excess Mod Podge from the bottle.
-
Use the hairdryer to dry the printout thoroughly – be careful not to use the highest heat setting on the hairdryer.
-
Use the sponge to give the bottle a wash with the black acrylic paint. Do not paint over the printout of the artwork Remember not to use too much paint when using a sponge, as this will cause the paint to smudge. Remove excess paint by dabbing it onto a sheet of newspaper before applying the sponge. Allow the bottle to dry thoroughly.
-
Repeat step 13 with the mother of pearl rose acrylic paint.
-
Glue a strip of black self-adhesive lace sticker all around the printout of the artwork, and cut off any protruding edges. Also glue a strip around the neck of the bottle.
-
Cover the bottle above the collar with masking tape. Apply one coat of the quick-drying spray varnish. Remember to work in a well-ventilated area when spraying the varnish. Remove the masking tape once the bottle is dry.
-
Use the alphabet gem stickers to spell out the names of the bridal couple at the top and bottom of the printout of the artwork.
- Fill the bottle with the liqueur, and if preferred, seal the bottle with wine bottle wax sealer.
