    Wine Cork Balls

    Materials:

    • Styrofoam balls
    • Paint
    • Wine corks
    • Hot glue and glue gun

    Instructions:

    1. We purchased four styrofoam balls (two that were 4", one 8" and one 10").

    2. We painted them a shade of brown so that the white was not seen in between the corks. I hung them to dry overnight.

    3. Next, I hot glued the corks on one by one.

    4. I glued a line of corks around the center and then filled in one half. Then I flipped it over and filled in the other half row by row. Occasionally the bottom of a cork had to be trimmed down some to fit into a tighter space.

Could you give us a rough idea of how many corks it took for each diameter of ball? I'm trying to figure out which size ball I have enough corks for, and if I should get that size of ball or keep saving corks for a larger size. I'd really hate to get halfway through and find out I don't have nearly enough corks!

I think it's wild and adorable. I may spray some glitter on the ends and use a bigger styrofoam piece and end up with a disco ball. Why not thread some battery operated LED lights thru it too. Oh I am having all kinds of ideas running thru my head. Thank you for the inspiration.

These are so cool! What a good idea. I am going to try and make a few of these. If you need extra corks, this is a great source: http://www.corkstore.com/Products/Recycled-Corks

I have so many corks I wouldn't throw out....this is great! I have so many trivets, and this is so different...thanks!

Very different...I looked twice. You must have had funny getting all those corks!I really like this idea, display in a large bowl or whatever, on a table. A real conversation starter, over a glass of wine. :o)

Interesting. Cute in a weird sort of way, but I like them. I just pictured champagne corks on them, looking like mushrooms growing on a ball. LOL

Hey I used to call those corks with hats ;-D ok ok I still do !

These would make great Christmas ornaments for neighbors in the smaller sizes and a great reason for happy hour!! :)

What would you do with these wine cork balls?

I would make a centerpiece for Christmas or winter.
