What kind of stuffing do you use so the whale is bathtub friendly? Note that I am extremely novice at crocheting at this time :)

The whale is really cute. Ducks have been done forever.

Cuet, fun and original! Go whale!

This is such a cute and different bath toy. The yellow duckie is also very cute but very common among toys for bathtime. I believe the whale is my favorite and I'm sure that I will be making this for a few little munchkins in the near future.

Initially I loved the duck, but the whale is so perfect! Not just great for tub time, but a very cute toy to play with and hug. I can't wait to try making a few. Thanks for the chance to comment.

Although the duck looks simple enough, and is surely a cute toy, I think the whale would be the more fun of the 2. I would make it in a variety of colors & yarns, so it could be used as more than just a tub toy! This is, I think, the better pattern.

I think that the whale is my favourite, mainly because it is a bit more unique than the duck. They are all over the place, but the whale needs more exposure. ;)

while I unashamedly admit a love of rubber duckies and have plenty around the house (my first grandchild took the first collection) I do like the whale so much, I could see him being made with some specialty yarns to make him more unique and not just a tub toy. Love the Whale!!

The duck is very cute but the whale has a unique appeal. Both are excellent patterns.

I like the whale because it is different. Don't know how hard to do but I would try it.

This is just too precious!

I'd do this whale BUT I'd also do the DUCKY!!

I think its so cute and my granddughters will enjoy it. I will be making them more!

Can't wait to start a whole bunch of them - unique and special.

The whale is just so much cuter than the duck..Might just whip one up today..

iOJune 22 -26th. Ottawa Sparks Street Mall 2011 INTERNATIONAL CHICKEN-RIB COOKOFF Map Directions I love the little Whale reminds me of Hawaii where we have spent many winters.

Ducks have been done over and over...I absolutely love this whale and plan on making it for my new grandniece/nephew (due in Oct). I think it's awesome!

Love this whale and think I will be making more than a few of them...

I like the whale the best, as JoJo1421 said there are lots of ducks out there!! Hope that the whale wins!!

so cute

very cute and not the usual baby's baby duck.

I've seen lots of crocheted & knitted "ducky" patterns--I think this is the first one I've seen for a baby whale!! Cool!!

I vote for the whale! More modern, and many children love water animals. How about a dolphin and a seahorse? Thanks.

Great idea, hope they come up with those!

They are both cute, but this one gets my vote!

This whale is adorable!! I will make several for the grand kids.

I think this is a cutie! I'm 51 years old and would love this hanging in my bathroom.

The little duckie is cute but I have to vote for the whale!

The whale is so cute . . . nothing against ducks but they are everywhere! Wish my kids were a little younger.

What size is this? What happens if the yarn/filling get wet? This would make a cute regular pillow for a kid's bedroom if the size is good. Very cute idea.

What type of stuffing works best for a bath toy?

I would think that if you used a compressed sponge that gets bigger when wet it might work OK.
