Zipper Kids Jacket
This knit sweater jacket from Patons has a zipper in the front and a textured stitch that looks great for everyday casual wear. For the intermediate skill level
MATERIALS
- Patons® Astra (50 g)
- Main Color (MC)
- (Grey) 4 (4-5) balls
- Contrast A (Blue) 4 (4-5) balls
- Knitting Needles: sizes 5½ mm (U.S. 9) and 6 mm (U.S. 10) or size needed to obtain tension.
- 3 st holders.
- Separating zipper.

TENSION
14½ sts and 21 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in Broken Rib pat with larger needles and 2 strands of yarn worked tog.
INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes, the instructions will be written thus ( ).
Note: All pieces are worked with 2 strands of yarn held tog.
BACK
With one strand of MC, one strand of A and smaller needles, cast on 53 (57-61) sts.
**1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: P1. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows (K1. P1) ribbing until work from beg measures 1 (1-1½) in(s) [2.5 (2.5-4) cm], ending with 2nd row.**
Change to larger needles and proceed in pat as follows:
1st and 2nd rows: Knit.
3rd row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.

Cont even in pat until work from beg measures 9 (10-12) ins [23 (25.5-30.5) cm] ending with RS facing for next row.
Raglan shaping: Cast off 3 sts beg next 2 rows. 33 (35-37) sts.
Next row: (RS). K1. Sl1. K1. psso. Pat to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1.
Next row: Work even in pat.
Rep last 2 rows 11 (12-13) times more. 9 sts.
Next row: (RS). K1. Sl1. K1. psso. Pat to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1.
Next row: P1. P2tog. Pat to last 3 sts. P2togtbl. P1. 5 sts.
Leave rem 5 sts on a st holder.
FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements and cover with a damp cloth allowing cloth to dry.
Collar: Sew raglan seams. With RS of work facing, one strand of MC, one strand of A and smaller needles, K4 (4-5) from Right Front safety pin. Pick up and knit 9 sts up Right Front neck edge. K5 from Right Sleeve. K15 (15-17) from Back st holder. K5 from Left Sleeve. Pick up and knit 9 sts down Left Front neck edge. K4 (4-5) from Left Front safety pin. 51 (51-55) sts.
Beg with 2nd row, work in (K1. P1) ribbing, as given for Back for 1 (1-1½) ins [2.5 (2.5- 4) cm]. Cast off in ribbing.
