Dramatic Floral Decoupage Tissue Box
Decoupage an unfinished tissue box with pretty floral papers like these, or whatever style suits your décor. If you're going to have a tissue box in your office space or bathroom, you'll want to cover it with something stylish and fabulous instead of plain-old store-bought.
Materials:
- Unfinished wood tissue box
- Mod Podge Matte
- FolkArt Acrylic Paint – Wrought Iron
- Wood flower (slightly smaller than the height of the box)
- Scrapbook paper, 2 sheets – I used K & Company’s Amy Butler Lotus Collection
- Paper trimmer (with a look of “lace”)
- Pink rhinestone
- Hot glue gun
Instructions:
- Paint around the sides of the box and wood flower with Wrought Iron. Allow to dry.
- Lay the box, upside down, over the back side of the black floral paper. Trace around the top and center hole then cut out. Set aside.
- Use remaining floral paper and wood flower as a template and cut out a flower image to cover wood flower. Set aside.
- Measure and cut strips of the green paper to fit around the sides of the box.
- Use the paper trimmer to trim the paper on each long edge of each strip creating a “lace” appearance.
- Position and adhere all papers to the box and wooden flower with Mod Podge while smoothing out any air bubbles with your hands. Allow to dry.
- Use sandpaper to sand off excess paper until smooth; sand downward in one direction to prevent the paper from lifting or tearing.
- Seal by applying two coats of Mod Podge to entire outside of the box and flower. When applying the coats, brush in one direction, then the other, and let dry between coats.
- Attach rhinestone to flower with hot glue then attach flower to the center front side of box with hot glue. Allow project to dry for 24 hours before using.
