Even if you don't own a sewing machine, you can easily add interesting appliqué flowers to any garment. This tutorial shows you how to dress up clothing in a simple and inexpensive way with scrap fabric pieces.
Materials:
- Scrap fabric
- Pins
-
Sewing machine or needle and thread
Instructions:
-
Sculpt a flowery form with your hands.
-
Start with some scrap pieces. Hey, they don't even need to be the same color.
-
You can pin it first (I am way too impatient) and sew it in. I used my sewing machine but you can just do it by hand.
-
Make sure to secure it nicely.
-
Move on to the next one.
-
Make as many as you'd like.
-
Cut all remaining threads and you are all done!

I actually like this.I like the way you made the flower shapes. It's unlike the general shape of flowers that have been going around. The shapes would look cute on a head band also.Thank you for sharing. P.S. The first comment was phrased rudely.

Mousee, I don't view the first comment as rudely phrased, but more as straightforward and critical. Furthermore, I agree with lasmto's assessment, and have but one more thing to add. That a contrasting color was used in the demonstration is fine - beginners may need to see how the flowers are attached. However, the thread used to fasten the flower shapes to the shirt should match the flowers in a finished project.

To some people this is a creative project. To me it lacks any taste. The flowers look like pieces of scrap material attached to draw away from the rest of the unfinished shirt. The shirt is a poor example of the project. There would be more interest in this project if the shirt were finished and the flowers were of a differing color to make the garment more acceptable so it could be worn for more than around the house. The general craft idea is great for covering small stains but the flower could have a little more style.

Lasmto, It's possible the shirt is not unfinished in the photo with the girl wearing it. Teens like that ragged style, even though you and I find it distasteful.
