Easter Handprint and Footprint Canvas Critters
"Creating art like these Easter Handprint and Footprint Canvas Critters can help encourage your child’s imagination and creativity while making lasting memories. My girls loved making these Easter Critters out of their hands and feet. Since my eldest has feet and hands that didn’t fit on the canvas I had she got to use her heel and fingers, which she thought was awesome, to make a bunny. My middle daughter’s hand fit perfectly on the canvas to create a chick and my youngest at only 5 weeks had the perfect foot for an Easter carrot. Let’s take a look at how to created these cute critters!"
Instructions
-
Using the indicated colours, apply a base coat to your canvas. You may need to apply two coats, if so allow the paint to dry completely between each coat and once again when thoroughly painted.
-
Be sure to have plenty of wipes or paper towel handy for clean-up!! The bunny requires a painted heal and two (or one) painted finger. I painted my daughter’s heel white and applied it to the canvas to create the bunny’s head/upper body. Allow this to dry before adding the finger print ears. Painting one finger is a little easier to maneuver then two.
-
The chick is easier in that you need to apply a generous amount of the child safe paint to the hand of your child and then make the print on the canvas, allow this to dry.
-
The carrot is the same but using a foot, apply a generous amount of paint to the foot and press it onto the canvas.
-
Now for the sightly tricky part. The bunny requires eyes, a nose, a mouth and some whiskers painted in. Also some pink on the ears to highlight them a little more.
-
The Chick needs eyes, eyelashes and a beak.
-
The carrot needs some darker orange lines painted in to represent the gradations seen on a real carrot and some green on top for the stem. Paint these details as you see here or create your own characters!
Notes*Extra step - Optional glitter*
I love everything that sparkles so for me it was a must to add some glitter to these cute critters. I used some all purpose glue and crafting glitter. For the bunny I used pink glitter to accent the ears and nose, the chick has orange glitter on its beak and the carrot has orange glitter along the dark orange accents and green glitter for the stem.
