Materials:

  • 1 skein Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Yarn in Baby Pink
  • 1 skein Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Yarn in Baby Blue
  • 1 skein Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Yarn in Baby Green
  • 1 skein Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Yarn in Baby Yellow
  • 1 skein Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Yarn in White
  • 1 skein Red Heart Soft Baby Steps Yarn in Binky Print
  • 4.5 mm (US G-6), 5.0mm (US H-8) crochet hook, or size needed for gauge
  • Yarn needle
  • Color Diagram

 

Gauge:  Square measures 6 ¼” x 6 ¼”

 

Instructions:
Blanket  Measures:  40” x 40”

Squares (Make 9 of each baby color-see diagram)

  1. Row 1 (RS):  With G hook and baby color ch 25, 3 dc in 5th ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, 3 dc in next ch, repeat from * across, dc in last ch, ch 1 and turn.
     
  2. Row 2:  Sc in first st, *ch 2, skip 3 dc, sc between 3rd and 4th dc, repeat from * across, sc in last st, ch 3 and  turn.
     
  3. Row 3:  3 dc in each ch 2 space across, dc in last st, ch 1 and turn.
     
  4. Rows 4-11:  Repeat Rows 2 and 3.

 

Square Edging

  1. With white starting at upper right corner work along top edge (sc, ch 3, sc) in first dc, *ch 3, skip 3 dc, sc between 3rd and 4th dc, repeat from * across, (sc, ch 3, sc) in last corner dc.
     
  2. Work along side edge *ch 3, sc in sc row, repeat from * across, (sc, ch 3, sc) in first bottom ch.
     
  3. Work along bottom edge *ch 3, sc in ch 2 sp, repeat from * across, (sc, ch 3, sc) in last ch.
     
  4. Work along side edge *ch 3, sc in sc row, repeat from * across, join to beginning sc and fasten off.

 

Joining of Squares

  1. With binky print whipstitch squares together sewing every 2nd stitch.  Whip stitch rows together sewing every 2nd stitch, making a loop when sewing the seam joinings.  See Color Placement Diagram.

 

Blanket Edging

  1. With H hook and binky print work along top edge, 3 dc in corner ch 3 space, *ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 3, 3 dc in next ch 3 space, continue from * across working in each ch 3 space and in seam joining, ending ch 3, 3 dc in corner ch 3 space, continue pattern around entire blanket, join to beg dc and fasten off.
