Pastel Shells Delight Afghan

Size: 38” x 42”

Materials:

• 290 yds. White Red Heart 4-ply yarn
• 255 yds. Lily Pink Red Heart 4-ply yarn (P)
• 205 yds. Pale Blue Red Heart 4-ply yarn (B)
• 205 yds. Light Lavender Red Heart 4-ply yarn (L)
• H and I crochet hooks or size needed for gauge

Gauge: With H hook 4 rows – 3 ¼ ”
Sh St, V St, Sh St – 3 ½”

Stitch Guide:

Chain (ch), Single Crochet (sc), Double Crochet (dc), Slip Stitch (sl st)
Special Stitches: Shell – 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc
V St – 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc

Instructions:
Row 1 – With H hook and pink ch 138 st, Shell in 7th ch from hook, *skip 3 ch, V St in next ch, skip 3 ch, Shell in next ch, rep from * across alternating Shells and V sts ending Shell, skip 2 ch, work 1 dc in last ch, ch 3 and turn. (17 Shells and 16 V Sts)
Row 2 – V St in first ch 2 sp of Shell, Shell in ch 2 sp of V St, rep across alternating V Sts and Shells, ending work 1 dc in last dc, ch 3 and turn.
Row 3 – Shell in first ch 2 sp of V St, V St in next ch 2 sp of Shell, rep across alternating Shells and V Sts, ending work 1 dc in last dc, ch 3 and turn.
Row 4 – Join white with a sl st in dc, ch 2, Repeat Row 2, fasten off and turn.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 for color pattern as follows:
3 P 1W 3B 1W 3L 1W (4 times) ending 3P for a total of 51 rows.

Edging:

With I hook and white work along top edge (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in corner dc, *sc in ch 2 sp of Shell, skip 1 dc, (sc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc, sc in ch 2 sp of V St, skip 1 dc, (sc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc, rep from * across ending (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in corner dc.
Work along side edge (sc, ch 2, 1 dc) in each sp between rows ending (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in corner ch sp.
Work along bottom edge *sc in ch below Shell, (sc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch 3 sp, sc in ch below V st, (sc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ch 3 sp, rep from * across ending (sc, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, sc) in corner ch sp.
Work along side edge (sc, ch 2, 1 dc) in each sp between rows, join to beg sc and fasten off.
