Celebrating FaveCrafts 10 Year Anniversary and Charity Drive with Warm Up America!

The FaveCrafts Afghan
The FaveCrafts Afghan

The FaveCrafts afghan was created by Sarah Zimmerman in celebration of our 10 year anniversary and our Warm Up America! charity drive! If you're looking for a beautiful new granny square afghan pattern to make, consider the teal and pink hues of this adorable project! These individual 7x9" sections were designed for Warm Up America!, who accepts these individual section donations and volunteers seam them together for the homeless in need.

Get involved today and participate in the FaveCrafts Anniversary Charity Drive, running May 1- June 30, 2019. Missed the deadline? Donate anytime!

If you're enthusiastic about the adorable hearts nestled throughout this afghan, you should certainly give this project a try. The blank rectangles are beginner friendly, and the heart motifs are for more experienced crocheters, though they are still quite easy! The instructions are easy to follow along with, and the finished results are so darn cute. Make this afghan for your home, as a baby blanket, a wheelchair lapghan, or for charity. The pattern is lap size, but the size is easily customizable if you simply work up more of the sections!

Joining the Sections

  1. Lay the crocheted sections out in the pattern of the finished blanket.

  2. Use a long strand of white yarn and your tapestry needle to stitch together the sections using the invisible join. The invisible join is created by using the mattress stitch, but only working in the back loops of your edge stitches. You will want to connect them by first working along all the vertical seams and then all the horizontal seams.

Border

  1. Starting at any point along the blanket edge, join in white yarn in a back loop only.

  2. Chain 1 and make SC in the back loops along the edge of the entire blanket. When you get to the corners make a SC + chain 2 + SC all in one corner stitch.

  3. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Who will you make this lapghan for?

Such a cute pattern! I love the hearts. Perfect for FaveCrafts

I enjoyed looking at this mornings afghan patterns and have earmarked a couple to make. However, I thought it very insulting that they were listed as afghans for old people! When will this ageist stereotyping stop?
