Tweetie Bird Afghan

Materials:
- 3 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Blue Jewel
- 3 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in Yellow
- 3 skeins Red Heart Classic yarn in White
- 4.5mm (US G-6) crochet hook, or size needed for gauge
Gauge:
- 4 rows – 2 ½”
- Shell, 3 dcs – 3”
Special Stitch:
- Shell – (3 dcs, ch 3, sc, ch 3, 3 dcs) in space as indicated in instructions.
- Small Scallop (Sm Sc) – (sc, ch 2, dc, ch 1) in stitch as indicated in instructions.
Instructions:
Blanket measures: 42” x 43”
Blanket is worked in multiples of 12 plus 14.
- Row 1: With blue ch 158, sc in 2nd ch from hook, [ch 3, skip 3 chs, sc in next ch] across, turn.
- Row 2 (RS): Ch 1, sc in first stitch, ch 2, sc in next ch space, *Shell in next ch space, sc in next ch space, ch 2**, sc in next ch space, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, sc in last stitch, turn.
- Row 3: Ch 3, 2 dcs in next ch 2 space, *ch 3, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 5, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 3**, 3 dcs in next ch 2 space, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dcs in last ch 2 space, dc in last stitch, turn.
- Row 4: Ch 1 and continue with Row 2.
- Row 5: Ch 3 and continue with Row 3, fasten off and turn.
- Row 6: Join yellow in first stitch, ch 1, continue with Row 2.
- Continue pattern repeating Row 2 and 3 for a total of 64 rows: (4 rows yellow, 4 rows white, 4 rows blue) 5 times. At the end of Row 64 fasten off and turn.
Edging
- Row 1: Work along top edge join yellow in first right corner dc, ch 3, 2 dcs in same stitch, ch 2, *3 dcs in ch 3 space, ch 2, *sc in ch 5 space, ch 2, 3 dcs in ch 3 space, ch 1, 3 dcs in ch 3 space, ch 2, repeat from * across ending ch 2, 3 dcs in last dc, ch 2.
- Work along side edge [3 dcs in dc space, ch 1] across ending ch 2.
- Work along bottom edge 3 dcs in sc, ch 2, [3 dcs in ch 3 space, ch 1] across ending ch 2, 3 dcs in last sc, ch 2.
- Work along side edge [3 dcs in dc space, ch 1] across ending ch 2, join to top of beginning ch 3 and fasten off.
- Row 2: Work along top edge with white Sm Sc in first right corner dc, skip 1 dc, Sm Sc in next dc, Sm Sc in center dc of 3 dcs, *Sm Sc in next sc, [Sm Sc in center dc of 3 dcs] twice, repeat from * across ending Sm Sc in first dc of corner 3 dcs, skip 1 dc, Sm Sc in last dc.
- Work along side edge Sm Sc in center dc of each 3 dcs across.
- Work along bottom edge Sm Sc in first dc of bottom corner 3 dcs, skip 1 dc, Sm Sc in next dc, continue pattern for bottom edge and side edge ending join to beginning sc and fasten off.
