I love the look of this bag! There are so many things I can think of to use it for the beach, farmers market, grocery store, anything really! It would also make the perfect gift for anyone on your list! I cant wait to make a bunch of these! Thank you for the great pattern!

I made this bag for a friend of mine for her beach stuff and she says it work great! I used beach colored yarn from Red Heart and it worked well with the pattern. The single crochets took a while for me but the result looked good. I plan on using this pattern again for gifts for other friends. It's a versatile gift that you can use for many purposes. Thank you for posting this pattern.

I aggre with the previous comment. The straps going to strech if you put anything with weight. But, with smaller hook ,and with sl sc could be alright. Other wise will be great to have in a bag for every day use. I hate when I have to buy the platic bags because i forget my shopping bag at home.

Reusable shopping bags are the way to go. But you most likely are going to have a problem with the strap stretching out when there is any kind of weight inside your bag. I still haven't figured out the best, easiest solution to this. Perhaps use a smaller hook, thus tighter stitches, and shortening the length of the strap? I do love the looks of this pattern/design, though.

I am enjoying working on this shopping bag and attach a photo of a similar "string bag" made by my Great Aunt and I remember taking this to the shops as a seven year old to buy Our daily needs. My Aunt would be about 120 years old if still alive. Note the bag has ink stains and I have endeavoured to repair the handle. I'll now attempt a better repair.

This would be the perfect bag for me to take to the farmers market this summer. I could take this bag with me, it would save me from either taking plastic bags from the vendors or bringing plastic bags with me. When this bag got dirty, I could just throw it into the washer, and it would be as good as new. This would be a good green alternative.

Easy to follow as a beginner

This is a great bag, and is a wonderful beach bag. I used scrap yarn that I had laying around and it come out very nice. My daughter loves to use it for the pool and the beach.

Love it! Always get compliments on my bags when I pull them out. Our city is switching at the end of the year no more plastic so these will be great!

I love this pattern. I've wanted one of these bags for going shopping. Thanks a million!!

Loved making this bag. It is so easy, made it in a day. Now my friend wants one !

I made one of these up with my scrap yarn. I also wanted to make it a bit bigger. When I did and put things in it, it stretched out and nearly hit the floor when it was on my shoulder. I remade it according to the pattern and it was a nice sized bag. Specially when you filled it. I put my fresh vegetables and fruits in it. I love it!

You can use a larger hook.

If I wanted to make this bag a little bigger, what would the math be for the number of stitches for the base chain? Thanks!
