Easy Comfort Shawl

Materials:

  • 1 skein Fishermen's Wool Yarn in Oatmeal
  • K (10.5) crochet hook
  • Large-Eye Blunt Needles

Gauge:  3 V-sts + 5 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Instructions:

  1. Ch 51.

  2. Row 1: (Dc, ch 2, dc) in 6th ch from hook (V-st made), *sk next 2 ch, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch; rep from * across to last 3 ch, sk next 2 ch, dc in last ch – 15 V-sts at the end of this row.

  3. Row 2: Ch 3, turn, (dc, ch 2, dc) in each ch-2 sp across, dc in top of turning ch.

  4. Rep last row until almost all yarn is used, leaving at least a 6 in. (15 cm) tail. Fasten off.

  5. Weave in ends.

Would I make this? Maybe if I could get the instructions to print so I could take it to my work area. Wouldn't this be cute with some crocheted flowers strewn on it?

Hi there! If you check out the buttons beneath the pattern (hit more), there's a print button that should come up with a printer-friendly version! I'll include a photo for reference. I hope that helps!

I agree with the previous post below that this is certainly not a shawl. However, it's not like it would be difficult to turn it into one if you have creativity and understand how crochet works. But it should really be listed as a scarf or a super scarf. It's hard to believe I can make this with just one skein of the Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool. The oatmeal is definitely my preferred color. And the "v stitch" looks nice!

why do you call this a shawl? it looks like a scarf to me. I am looking for an easy to crochet shawl. something that will on your shoulders when you move. this is not it.

It is easy and attractive!!!!

what is 3 V-sts?

What are the finished width and length?

I love this!! I made one similar to this for my daughter last year.. I think ALL Winter Scarves should be thick, wide and long! that way it is more functional and can be used for a wrap, scarf or a combination head cover and scarf... Love love love this pattern!!

What do you mean by 150-123?

You list this as a "shawl", but the model is wearing it as a scarf. Is it a shawl or a scarf? I would like to make this with yarn that I already have. How many ounces is 150-123 Fishermen's Wool Yarn? I need to know if I have enough yarn to make this as a shawl. Thank you.
