This is great! I've been looking for a hat pattern to make for my husband. We have noticed that the machine knitted hats just don't fit him properly. I like the ribbing as I think it makes for a warmer and heavier hat, most appropriate for our Maine winters. This will be nice with solid colors or variegated yarn. I'll definitely be making this.

Like the beginning comment said, I too have been looking for a crochet pattern that mimics the ribbing of knitting. My mother loves that look and although she likes whatever I crochet she would still like to that that ribbed look that you get from knitting. I am definitely going to give this pattern a try.

I like the look of this Faux Mistake Rib Easy Crochet Hat! The back loop only crochet makes for a nice even ribbing. It is great to have the pattern with all different sizes in one pattern, taking the guest work out of trying to make different sizes. I will be trying different types of yarn to see which one will be best. Some of the wool yarns can be to itchy and some to soft with to much stretch in it.. so I'm not sure what to really use? Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.

This hat looks really easy and fun to do. I think this hat will work nicely for me to use for my hat tree that I do every year to donate to our local food pantry to give out to people as they come in to get food each week. This helps me use up some yarn that I have been collecting all year, and it gets used for a good purpose.

This patter was life savior this winter as my boys aare very picky when it comes to hats.My family is really picky but this hat patter was just perfect! Of course I had to adjust the length according to the request but the results were totally pleasing.I made 5 hats for my boys and my husband, using red heart . I will use this pattern for next year as well .No more pattern searching for me.Thank you for sharing it.

I keep trying to crochet a hat from the bottom up like this and it always ends up being wonky at the top. I've had a lot more luck with starting at the top with a magic circle and working my way down. I'm going to try one more time, because I really want a hat like this!
