Santa Ornament

Materials:
Makes 3 Santa ornaments
- 1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream yarn in Red (MC)
- 1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream yarn in Soft Ecru (A)
- 1 ball Lily® Sugar’n Cream yarn in White (B)
- 3.5 mm (U.S. E or 4) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Stuffing
- Gold craft wire for glasses
- 2 black beads for eyes
- Short length of ribbon for hanging loop
Gauge:
- 16 sc and 20 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
Instructions:
- With MC, ch 2.
- 1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. 6 sc.
- 2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.12 sc.
- 3rd rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.
- 4th rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
- 5th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.
- 6th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Rep from * to last 3 sc. 2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of last 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 36 sc.
- 7th rnd: Ch 1. *2 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 5 sc. Rep from * around. 42 sc.
- 8th to 10th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
- 11th rnd: Ch 1. *Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook – sc2tog made. 1 sc in each of next 5 sc. Rep from * around.
- Join A with sl st to first sc. 36 sc.
- 12th rnd: With A, ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
- 13th rnd: Ch 1. Working in both loops, *1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.
- 14th to 16th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join B with sl st to first sc.
- 17th rnd: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
- 18th rnd: Ch 1. Working in back loops only, 1 sc in each sc around. Join MC with sl st to first sc.
- 19th rnd: With MC, ch 1. Working in both loops, 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
- 20th rnd: Ch 1. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Rep from * around. 24 sc.
- 21st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
- 22nd rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. Sc2tog. Rep from * around. 18 sc.
- 23rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
- 24th rnd: Ch 1. *Sc2tog. 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around. 12 sc.
- 25th and 26th rnds: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join B with sl st to first sc at end of 26th rnd.
- 27th rnd: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
- Stuff Santa lightly.
- 28th rnd: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) 6 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 6 sc.
- 29th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Draw yarn through rem sts. Pull tightly and fasten securely.
Hat Trim
- Join B with sl st to rem front loop of first sc of 18th rnd. *Ch 3. Sl st in rem front loop of next st.
- Rep from * around. Ch 3. Join with sl st in same sp as first sl st. Fasten off.
Beard
- With B, ch 5 and work 9 tr in 5th ch from hook. Fasten off
Finishing
- Sew Beard to Santa at 13th rnd. Sew beads for eyes above Beard as shown in picture. Cut a length of craft wire 4 ins [10 cm] long. Twist wire as shown in diagram to form Glasses. Insert ends of Glasses into Santa.
- Attach ribbon as shown in picture for hanging loop.

If it's Santa I want it. If it's crochet , get out of my way. I love to make them because with the grand kids wanting to look at and touch everything I love non breakable so around. Plus it's Santa! Who wouldn't love this little guy? I have to make one for each grand child and put their initials on the bottom so there won't be any mix ups.
