Tissue and Tulle Easter Eggs
These dyed eggs, wrapped in dramatic aubergine and yellow tulle, make an artful addition to the Easter basket. Easy to prepare and fun for kids.
Materials:
- STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:
- Eggs: three 5"
- Tissue paper: one sheet each bright green, bright pink, bright yellow
- Tulle ribbon: one spool each aubergine and yellow
- Silk flowers: six miniature yellow and pink rosebuds; three miniature yellow and pink roses; three purple minature wildflower stems
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Quick dry tacky glue
- Low temp glue gun and glue sticks
- Small disposable bowl and water
Steps:
1. In small, disposable bowl, mix one part quick dry tacky glue with three parts water. Tear tissue paper in small pieces. Dip torn tissue pieces into glue and water mixture and place on eggs, allowing tissue to wrinkle; continue covering eggs with overlapping tissue pieces. Let eggs dry overnight.
2. Cut two 16" lengths of aubergine tulle and tie in a bow around green and yellow eggs. Repeat, wrapping a 16" length of yellow tulle around pink egg.
3. Trim flower stems; using hot glue, attach flowers around the tulle bows.
4. Carefully press the bottoms of the eggs on a flat surface, flattening one side so egg won't roll.
