Tie Dye Embroidery
Give new life to an old art form with this Tie Dye Embroidery design. By mixing these two crafting mediums, you can create beautiful artwork that's unlike any other. Using easy embroidery techniques, this pattern from The Crafty Chica is easy to master. You could also use this technique to give texture and dimension to all your fabric projects. Simply use thread and a basic running stitch to highlight the outline of your work.
Materials:
- Embroidery fabric pieces, or a design of your choice
- Tulip One-Step Tie Dye
- Tulip Fabric Markers
- Embroidery thread
- Needle
Instructions:
-
First step - I used Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye to create a teal and green ombre effect. (I used green and teal).
-
After I finished the fabric dye process, I used Tulip Fabric Markers to color the flowers and other parts of the design. It's kind of like cheating because you don't have to embroider as much to bring out the color. But actually, it's not cheating at all...it's just another way to have fun with embroidery!
-
Here I used my embroidery threads to add accents and highlights. I also used Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ Shimmer Fabric Paint to add sparkle to the design!
-
I also plan to add some small beads, crystals and Tulip Glitter Fabric Spray.

Where do I get the material with the design on it? I mean, inside the craft store, where is this located? I remember painting on cloth materials when I was a girl. Sometimes I would get a little heavy handed with my paint and it would bleed through. I am LOVING the tie-dye idea! Mixed media is so modern and cool. Thanks for sharing this one!
