Easy DIY Serving Platter
This is such an easy craft you'll love it. If you have old plates you want to get rid of, don't. Reuse them and make a 2 tier serving platter. All that's need are plates and a candle stick holder. Great for holiday parties.
Materials:
- Dinner Plate
- Sandwich Plate or Bowl ( smaller than the dinner plate )
- Candle Stick Holder ( glass or brass, somewhat matching the plates.)
- Tube of E-6000 ( found at Wal-Mart in the craft section )
Instructions:

Make sure that all three pieces are washed and dried.

Place the dinner plate on a flat surface, like the table.

Find the center of the dinner plate and place the candle stick upside down on the middle of the dinner plate. Carefully place a little E-6000 on the candle stick rim and place it back in the center of the dinner plate. The candle stick is the column between the two tiers. Let that dry in place for 1 hour.

Place the smaller plate or bowl on top of the candle stick holder, making sure to center the candle stick in the middle of smaller plate or bowl bottom. Now place a small amount of E-6000 onto the rim of the candle stick holder and replace the small plate or bowl, making sure it is centered properly.
- Allow your 2-tier serving platter to dry for 24 hours before using. I advise had washing instead of dish washing this platter.

I love it. You can get dishe's and candle sticks at the dollar tree so it will cost you $3. Try buying a dish for that. I have some pieces of my moms old plates that would look great and I won't be forced to toss them. I made a smaller dish by using a bread plate and a saucer. It's on my end table with dome candy kisses.

you can find the E-6000 glue at any craft and hobby store. Also any craft mail order company. For those like me who never ever shop at Wal-mart. It is great glue I use it for all my projects.

I did this without the bottom plate, to make cake plates for my daughters wedding. We had cakes on each table. Used inexpensive short tumblers for the base (upsidedown) with the 12" plate glued on the top. This created a cake stand for each cake.

How 'bout plastic champaigne flutes or the wider saucer type champaignes? Instant glue would probably hold it all together - that stuff works on almost anything. For extra flair, glue some inexpensive beads around the bowl of the glass where it meets the bottom of the plate. Just be sure the piece is sturdy enough to hold the food you want to use it for and not tip easily. Go all out and spray paint the UNDERSIDE of your new pedestal server with any color that strikes your fancy. Read the label and use spray paint that will work with plastic, not melt it! Wow! I see lots of creative possibilities here.

What a wonderful way to reuse those plastic trays you get from the deli at the store (you know...for sandwiches or wing platters). Actually, they are pretty nice...LOL But what would you use for the center piece..I'd have to think about that one...mmmmmmmmmm, any suggestions......I'd be happy to hear! Thanks, pcsopunky
