Pampa Wall Hanging
We have a special connection with this wall hanging because it is inspired by one of our first macramé creations. It has the perfect size to complement a decorative corner and create a nice composition with other ornaments.
Double diamonds play the main role in this piece. They are surrounded by a plain design which makes them shine. The way the tassels hang freely is an elegant detail to complete the geometric end of this piece.

INSTRUCTIONS
-
Attach all 24 pieces of the 98-inch (250-cm) cords onto the wooden dowel with the Lark’s Head Knot.
-
Begin the design by tying 3 rows of Alternating Square Knots.
-
In order to make 4 diamonds, take cords 6 and 7 (counting from left to right) to start tying Double-Double Half Hitch Diamonds. Once you do the 1st half of the diamond, tie a Square Knot with 6 filler cords inside it. Close the diamonds. Repeat the same with cords 18 and 19, 30 and 31, 42 and 43 to make 3 more Double-Double Half Hitch Diamonds.
-
Next, tie a row of Alternating Square Knots. Start tying so that the 1st row coincides with the bottom part of the diamonds. From the 2nd row on, start decreasing the design using the Decreasing Alternating Square Knot pattern. Do this until there are only 4 cords to tie the last Square Knot.
-
Make 7 tassels from the 12 mm pieces of 12 inch (30 cm) cord. Use the 7 pieces of 1.5 mm cotton string (about 10 inches [25 cm] long) to tie them in the middle and the 7 pieces of 1.5 mm cotton string (about 12 inches [30 cm] long) to make Gathering Knots. Attach them to the last row of Square Knots, leaving a space of 3.2 inches (8 cm) between the 1st 3 tassels and 2 inches (5 cm) for the one in the middle. Place the tassels and use a needle to help you pass the ends of the thin cord to the back part of the piece. Attach each tassel with a Double Half Hitch Knot.
-
Trim the ends slightly longer than the tassels in a V formation and brush them.
