Nana's Waffle Washcloth
Nana's Waffle Washcloth is great for using in the kitchen. Use it to wash dishes or place it under a hot pan to act as a protector for your table. This is a fun and textured crochet pattern that will have anyone hooked on crocheting! Mix and match colors to create a colorful washcloth or create an assortment of solid-colored dishcloths to give as a gift for a newly married couple or a housewarming.
Materials:
- 5mm (H) hook
- Cream Double knit (8 ply) (any yarn can be used for this project, it will just alter the size slightly)
- Stitch marker
- Wool needle
Abbreviations:
- HK – hook
- CH – chain
- SS – Slip Stitch
- SC – Single Crochet
- SC3Tog – Single Crochet 3 together
- DC – Double Crochet
- FPDC – Front Post Double Crochet
- BPDC – Back Post Double Crochet
Instructions:
At the end of each round just carry on, do not join with a slip stitch.
Mark the start of each round and then move marker as a round is completed.
- Ch 42
- Row 1) 1 sc in 2nd ch from hk, 1 sc3top – insert your hook into the sc you have just created, yarn over, pull through, insert your hook into the next ch, yarn over, pull through, insert your hook into the next ch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over pull through all the loops on the hook. Ch 1. All the other sc3tog – (insert your hook into the last ch used in the previous sc3top, yarn over, pull through, insert hook into next ch, yarn over, pull through, insert hook into next ch, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through all the loops on the hook, Ch 1) – repeat across. When you have finished using all the ch’s insert 1 sc in the last st.
- Row 2) Ch 1, 1 sc in st, 1 sc3tog – (insert hook into sc, yarn over hook, pull through, insert hook into next st, yarn over, pull through, insert hook into next st, yarn over, pull through) ch 1, *sc3tog (insert your hook into the last st used in the previous sc3top, yarn over, pull through, insert hook into next st, yarn over, pull through, insert hook into next st, yarn over, pull through, yarn over, pull through all the loops on the hook) ch 1* repeat across, 1 sc in last st
- Row 3-33) Repeat row 2
Border
- Round 1) Ch 2 when you have finished the above, dc around putting 3 dc in each corner (approximately 156 dc), ss to join to 1st dc
- Round 2) Ch 2, *fpdc, bpdc* around, ss to first fpdc, ch 8, ss to join to same st, finish.
