I love how neat these slippers look. I really need a pair of these for these cold cold days. Hot chocolate helps but my feet are freezing.

Ok, I have to admit, the last pair of slippers I made didnt come out exactly the way I wanted. In fact, one is tight and the other falls off. Has anyone made these? I think I could use an endorsement or maybe just someone to tell me I can do it. I really NEED a pair of slippers! And these look like something I can manage without mangling them too much.

This is an easy pattern, so don't be afraid of it. If you do have a problem with one being too big, a simple fix is to use a darning needle and run a length of yarn around the top edge of the slipper, drawing it up to fit your foot. This pattern is a variation on a classic pattern, which never quite works out because they stretch with use. Running the yarn around it fixes that. I use the yarn to make a bow tie at the toe and it can be adjusted as needed.

The issue you had with your last pair of slippers has probably been experienced by every knitter at least once. What I teach my new knitters is to make them on a circular needle and cast on for both slippers at once, basically make them 2 at a time, this ensures that they come out uniform and match exactly. These slippers are made in cotton yarn, so if they are a little snug, they will stretch out a bit and if they are a little loose a spin through the washer and dryer will tighten them up for you. I'm certain you can do this!

What does M1 mean in your instructions?

Hi there - M1 means "make one." According to the Lion Brand Yarn website "Work to the place where the increase is to be made. Insert the left needle from front to back into the horizontal strand between the two stitches: Knit the stitch through the back loop as shown. On the purl side, insert the needle from front to back and then purl the stitch through the back loop." Hope that helps! - Julia from FaveCrafts

what does 'place marker' mean? are you talking about the markers used when knitting in the round or something?

I want to make larger slippers with this pattern. I tried the bernat.com/contact.php --Editor of FaveCrafts but it did not work.

Love the design. But I am confused on the last part: K9. Cast off 13 sts. K9. Join a 2nd ball of yarn to first 9 sts. Working both sides at same time, cont in garter st (knit every row) until strips from cast off edge measure 1 ins [3 cm]. Cast off . Sew ends of back strips tog. Sew side of strips to cast off edge of Slipper. Sew center front seam to marked row. Sew toe closed. Has anyone made a video on this part? I am more a visual learner. Thanks

Cast off is the same as Bind off when done with a knitted project. So you knit 9, Bind off 13, knit 9 to end.

Thank you so much for this pattern It is really fast and comes together very nicely It looks like the questions below are all from more than a year ago but in case any of them are still wondering jeanstephens When you get to the end you cast off the middle stitches so you have stiches a big gap on your knitting needle and then more You want to lengthen those to pieces into strips That is why she says to balls of yarn You could knit the last on your needle which are still connected to the yarn you've been using since you just knitted them with that yarn and then the other nine with another ball so they don't become connected Or what I did which seemed less complicated is just knit those an the end to the length I wanted counting rows bind off then knit the other…Read More nine with that yarn the same number of rows But after the bind of the middle just think of the sets of stitches you have left like two separate knitting projects

yes, you do work two sets of nine stitches separately, this is kind of standard when making slippers and sweaters when you are required to bind off stitches in the centre. it comes together at the end when you sew it together, i don't recommend doing them separately, no matter how well you count, one will inevitably be longer than the other.

M1 means to make a stitch. I need help with this pattern. I don't know what the instructions mean by attaching yarn to first 9 stitches and using 2 balls of yarn. Do you bind off the stitches and save the yarn? What do you do with the last stitch that is on the needle that was on the bind off? I have worked this on a scrap yarn and it is not working out for me. Someone please help.

I see that your question has been on here for a number of years without an answer, I can help. When you bind off stitches in the middle of a row, you are working two sides of a project separately, so you need to have a ball of yarn to work each side, other wise they will be joined where they should be separated, typically the last stitch of the bind off is the first stitch in the next set of instructions, so you will just carry on working the pattern as instructed, as long as you have 9 stitches on each side of the project, you're golden.

Hi everyone, Bernat's definition of M1 is: Make 1 stitch by picking up horizontal loop lying before next stitch and knitting into back of loop. If you have additional questions regarding this specific pattern, we suggest contacting Bernat for clarification. Their contact information can be found here: http://www.bernat.com/contact.php --Editor of FaveCrafts

I am like the two above, What does the M1 in this pattern mean? I thought it might be main color, but M1. K5. M1. K1 would not be used like this, so What does M1 mean?
