Needlefelted Sweetheart Swag
Create a trio of textured hearts to hang in this needle felting project perfect for beginners. The look is perfect for country homes.
Materials:
- STYROFOAM™ Brand Foam:
- Solid Hearts, three 3"
- Red wool felt, 9" X 18"
- Natural wool fiber
- Red check cotton fabric scrap, 2" x 45"
- Red button, 1/4"
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Needlefelting tool
- Sewing needle and thread: button; linen
- Straight pins (optional)
- Low-temp glue gun and glue sticks

Fabric glue or thick, white craft glue
Instructions:

Trace each foam heart twice onto red wool felt and cut out. In addition, cut 1/2" x 18" felt strips cover foam sides. Glue felt to corresponding foam areas; trim excess.

Place small amount of wool fiber against first heart and refer to photo to needlefelt a 1/2"tall "X" shape; repeat seven more times for total of eight letters.

Shape small amount of wool fiber into rough heart and needlefelt to center of second foam heart; add more fiber as needed. Glue button to center of heart.

Roll nine small balls from wool fiber and needlefelt to third heart for "O" letters as shown.
- Tear fabric strip in half lengthwise and cut three 20" lengths. Glue hearts to one length as shown and tie remaining lengths into bows; glue bows to ends of fabric strip.
Note: Felting needles are extremely sharp; use caution. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
