Empty wine bottle with label peeled off
Cordless drill
Half-inch diamond head drill bit
String of 30 to 50 count lights
Hot glue and gun
Floral beads, gems, or flat stones of some kind

Twinkling Lights Wine Bottle Craft

Wine Bottle Craft Instructions

After you have cleaned and removed the label from your wine bottle, you will want to drill a hole in the b ase of your bottle.
The best way to do this is to cover the area you want to drill with masking tape and markw here youw ant the hole to be. Then, submerge your bottle and secure it in a basin with a wet towel. Proceed with the drilling.
Once your bottle is ready, thread the lights through the hole in the bottom of the bottle, being sure to get them all in the bottle.
Using your hot glue gun, glue your floral beads, gemstones, or embellishments onto the bottle in a decorative pattern.

These wine bottle lights are being used in so many homes for decor and this is a great way to reuse the bottles. I have seen them done with just the lights but I like the floral glass beads and you can get them at the dollar store. These will make a great gift too. I think I will try fairy lights in mine.

The lights that are being used here are simply Christmas lights, correct? I love the idea and would have appreciated more pictures of the directions. Because I am not sure about how well I could drill a hole, I am thinking about bringing the string from the top and gluing it down the "back" of the bottle before I embellish with the gems.

I just love this craft idea. I have the beads that are left over from another craft but the drill a hole in the bottom of a bottle is kind of scary for me. So like Marilyn B I was thinking about having the cord come out of the top or better yet, find a plastic bottle that I feel comfortable drilling a hole in. At any rate, I love this idea and I have just the table to sit a pair of these on.

Absolutely love the idea of adding the glass beads and embellishments on the outside. You can get away with not drilling a hole by feeding the lights into the top but also if you rather not have the lights go in that way, consider drilling the hole in the side of the bottle rather than the bottom because the light string cord will make it difficult for the bottle to stand on the level. Pretty project!

What a cute and fun craft to make! I think the wine bottle is fine on its own without the lights, but it does have such a pretty glow when using the string of lights.
