Live Laugh Love Colorful Canvases
I was looking for some easy home decorating ideas on canvas and came up with this fabric trio. These three canvases from Plaid echo one of my favorite sentiments.
Materials:
- Canvas, 3 – 12" X 12"
- FolkArt Acrylic Paint – Sugar Plum, Fresh Foliage, Vintage White, English Mustard
- Mod Podge Fabric
- Fabric, 3 fat quarters in coordinating patterns
- Wood shapes, 3 – we used a butterfly, a cupcake and a heart
- Liner brush
- Pinking shears
- Staple gun
- Computer and printer
- Tape
Instructions:
-
While you are waiting for your Mod Podge to dry, paint all of your wood shapes with Vintage White. Paint two coats and allow to dry.
-
Use the liner brush and the FolkArt colors to paint swirls on the wood shapes as shown. The circles on the wood heart were created by dipping the bottom of the paint bottle into paint and using as a stamp. Allow to dry.
-
Cut enough fabric to fit over the fronts of the three canvases. Starting on one side, staple the fabric to the canvas. Pull taut and staple all the way around, folding the corners. Set aside.
-
Take the fabric scraps from step 3 and cut out various shapes to adhere to your wood shapes as shown in the photo. We cut the edge of the cupcake liner with pinking shears. Adhere all shapes with Mod Podge.
-
Print out letters to spell “Live, Laugh, Love” on your computer in the size and font you like. Use these as a template to cut out your fabric letters. Tape the templates to the fabric and cut out the letters using your craft knife. Adhere the letters to your canvases using the Mod Podge.
-
Glue the wood shapes to the canvases using craft glue.
- Coat all three canvases completely with Mod Podge. Allow to dry and then apply a second coat. Allow to dry for 24 hours before hanging.
