Darling Daisy Flower Tray
Great for serving summer drinks or little tea time sandwiches, this Darling Daisy Flower Tray is the perfect presentation for your feast. A simple wooden DIY serving tray can easily be transformed into this colorful craft by using stamps and simple painting techniques. This tray also makes a lovely Mother's Day gift or birthday gift for a loved one.
Materials:
- Small wooden tray, easily obtainable from most craft shops
- Acrylic paint in the following colors: white, grey, mother-of-pearl rose, sweet temptations (pink) and plum
- Pink and blue square grid Washi tape
- Jablo’s cosmos stamps, PF 007 (see www.jabtex.co.za for international stockists)
- Thick paintbrush, as well as two thin paintbrush
- Fan-shaped paint brush
- Fine sanding paper
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Measuring tape
- Clear-drying craft glue
- Quick-drying matt spray varnish
- Few sheets of old newspaper to protect the working area
Instructions:

Use the thick paintbrush and paint the whole tray, inside and out, with the white paint. Make sure that all the corners and edges are well covered with paint. Do not paint the bottom of the tray though.

Let the tray dry thoroughly.

Now give the edge of the tray a wash with the grey paint. Note: If you want to have a solid grey edge, let the paint dry and add a second coat.

Use the fan-shaped paint brush and give the inside bottom of the tray a wash with the mother-of-pearl rose paint. Remember not to use too much paint when using a fan-shaped brush, as this will lose the fan-shaped effect remove excess paint by dabbing it onto a sheet of newspaper before starting to paint.

Let the tray dry thoroughly again.

Use the Washi tape to add a neat border all around the inside bottom of the tray. Use a few drops of the craft glue to secure the tape to the tray.

Use the pencil and measuring tape to lightly mark out six squares where the flowers will be stamped.

Now use the Jablo’s cosmos stamp. Use one thin paint brush to apply an even layer of the sweet temptations paint onto the inside of the cosmos flower. Use the second thin paint brush to apply an even layer of the plum paint onto the leaves of the flower. Be careful not to apply too much or too little paint to the stamp, as you will end up with an uneven effect.

Transfer the image onto the tray and then, carefully lift the stamp.

Repeat steps 8 and 9 with the Jablo’s cosmos stamp.

Allow the stamped images to dry before continuing with the next step.

Erase all the pencil lines.

To make the tray neat, use the sanding paper to sand off any paint on the bottom of the tray.
- Spray the inside and edges of the tray with the spray varnish. Remember to work in a well-ventilated area when spraying the varnish.
