With an adorable rooster, and patinaed finish, the recipient will be sure to treasure it for years to come. The wood box, paints and stencil set used to make this project are all items from Plaid Crafts. The layered stencil look looks advanced but is easy to achieve with the coordinating stencil sets that plaid makes. The brand new wood box takes on an aged patina with Plaid's pickling wash style paint."

Materials List

Small wood box with slatted lid
FolkArt Pickling Wash paint in Stormy Sky and Pappilon
Paint brush
Stenciling brush
FolkArt "Chicken Coop" painting stencils
Martha Stewart Acrylic satin finish paint in wedding cake, habeñero, beetle black, seaweed, chamomile, scotish highlands and beach glass

Instructions

Paint all sides of the lid with pickling wash in stormy sky. Paint the inside and outside of the box with pickling wash in pappilon. Allow to dry completely.
Lay the chicken wire stencil over the lid. Use a stenciling brush to apply the Martha Stewart paint in wedding cake. Allow to dry completely.
Lay the rooster stencil over the lid. Use the stencil brush to apply the remaining Martha Stewart colors to the corresponding areas of the rooster as shown. Pro tip: If you are having a hard time getting the stencil brush worked into small areas of the stencil, try using a Q-tip!
Carefully peel up the stencil and allow box to dry completely before filling it with goodies!
