    Stenciling with Modeling Cream

    Learn how to use modeling cream, aka embossing paste, to stencil a fun design an turn a plain piece of paper into a fun piece of patterned paper. You can add texture and sheen to paper by stenciling with modeling cream using this tutorial from Marti Wills.

    Stenciling with Modeling Cream

    Materials:

    • Viva Décor Modeling Cream/Embossing Paste/Embossing Icing
    • Plastic or copper stencil
    • Plastic palette knife – about 1” wide
    • Cardstock

    Instructions:

    1. You want your cardstock to be larger than you will use as your final piece.
       
    2. Lay the cardstock on a flat surface.
       
    3. Lay your stencil on top of the cardstock.
       
    4. Hold the stencil in place and gently smooth on the modeling cream – be careful not to use too much pressure or to pull upwards quickly and lift the stencil. Less smoothing is better – less chance for an error.
       
    5. Lift the stencil straight up by the corner opposite of where you are holding it in place.
       
    6. Be sure to rinse your stencil and tool immediately.
