Patriotic Plastic Canvas Bookmark
This beginner plastic canvas project creates a patriotic American flag bookmark. This is a perfect after-school activity for kids or scout troops.

Materials:
- Kreinik Heavy (#32) Braid 033 Royal Blue, 003 Red, 100 White
- QuickCount® 10-count plastic canvas by Uniek
- Plastic Canvas needle (#18)
Instructions:
- Cut flag piece 24 holes x 65 holes, leaving bottom marker 10 x 51 holes.
- Stitch this design using 18-inch cut lengths of the metallic braid in the continental stitch (image below). Leave bottom tab of bookmark unstitched.
- When you are finished stitching, overcast the edge with 033 Royal Blue to outline the flag.

Just I time for the fourth of July, these patriotic bookmarks are very nice and as an option, you could convert the instructions to make a larger sized banner using thick yarn, or even just paint in the strokes on an even larger banner to display in your yard or patio for the holiday festivities! Ass some small lights around the edge for some more flair!

These look really cool! These stitches not only can be used as bookmarks. I think it also can be used as brooches. They will look so cool on kids' jacket! I plan to make them for my kids. But I wonder where is the pattern for the eagle? I wish to make both designs...

These look really awesome! This may sound like a silly question, but how do you get the thread onto the plastic canvas? I've never done this type of craft before and I need some instruction on how to actually stitch the thread onto the plastic canvas. Thanks!
